There have not been any studies done to show that drinking hard water causes health issues. However, it can cause many other issues.

If you notice that the smell or taste of your water has changed, then it may have a lot of minerals in it. You may also have bacteria in your water. When the bacteria mixes with the minerals from the water, a foul odor may be created.

Appliance Damage

Hard water can shorten the lifespan of your appliances. If you notice that your appliances are breaking more quickly than usual, then hard water may be to blame. The hard water deposits may build up in your dishwasher, washer and other appliances.

Soap Scum

You will likely have a harder time cleaning your tub and sink if you have hard water. You may notice that soap scum seems to say in the tub or sink regardless of how much you clean it. The soap interacts with the mineral, which creates soap scum. You may also notice hard water spots accumulate in your appliances.

Hair Damage

If you notice that your hair feels dry and rough after you wash it, then your water may be too hard. You may also have a harder time rinsing out the shampoo. Because hard water can make your hair rough and tangled, it can cause serious damage to your hair. Many people notice that their hair health improves after switching to soft water.

Clogged Pipes

The scale deposits can build up in your pipes. If the scale deposits are not removed, then they will eventually clog your pipes. Your pipes are more likely to get clogged if they are older. You should not try to deal with clogs on your own. You should call a plumbing company as soon as possible.

Your Clothes do not Look Clean

Have you washed your clothes multiple times and still cannot remove the stains? If so, then this problem may be caused by hard water. It is harder for the washing machine to remove soap and grime when the water is hard. People who have hard water will have to use more detergent.
